Katherine is a native Houstonian who attended and graduated from Lamar High School and then continued her education and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. She taught school in the Houston Independent School District for 12 years. Bi-lingual in Spanish, Katherine was a Bilingual/ESL teacher to Spanish speaking students for several years. Her love of children led to her charity work and membership in the Junior League of Houston where she served as the Placement Chairman at the Ronald McDonald House two years. Katherine is a lifetime member of The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and served as a member of the Breeder Greeter committee for twelve years. She previously served as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Coastal Conservation Association in Houston, Texas.
Katherine currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her husband Michael. Together they own and run Vivero Growers Nursery which specializes in Texas natives and hard to find specimen and unique plants and trees.

Katherine enjoys fishing- both off shore and on, horses, and traveling. Katherine is a registered real estate broker in the state of Texas and a member of The Austin Board of Realtors.
